This company was enlisted for the war at Nashville, Nash County and at Wilson, Wilson County beginning on 4 June 1861. Although the grater portion of the initial enlistments came from Nash and Wilson counties, some came from adjoining Franklin County. The company rendezvoused at Wilson, where it remained until it moved to Camp Clark, Kittrell’s Springs, Granville County in August, 1861. It was here, on 30 Aug 1861, that the 19th Regiment North Carolina Troops (2nd Regiment North Carolina Cavalry) was organized. After that date the company functioned as a part of the regiment, and its history for the war period is recorded as a part of the regimental history.
