MANNING, MOSES V. B., Private, 30th North Carolina Infantry, Company I from Nash County. WOUNDED: at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 September 1862. DIED: “at home” on 28 September 1862 of his wounds. Moses must have been severly wounded, somehow he managed to summon the strength and fortitude to walk home and died there some 11 days after he was wounded. At the time of his death he was 17 years old.
