Daniel C. COGGIN, Private – 32nd North Carolina Infantry, 2nd Company H.

Born in Franklin County and resided in Nash County where he was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisted in Wake County at age 24 on 12 Oct 1862, for the war. Present or accounted for until captured at Gettysburg, PA on or about 4 July 1863. Hospitalized at Gettysburg, PA with “febris typhoides.” Transferred to the hospital at Chester, PA, on an unspecified date. Transferred to Point Lookout Prison, MD on 2 Oct 1863. Released at Point Lookout Prison on 23 January 1864, after taking the Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America and joining the United States Army. Assigned to Company D, 1st Regiment, United States Volunteer Infantry.
