Morrison T. OWENS, Private. 2nd Regiment North Carolina State Troops, Company B.

Born in Wilson County where he resided as a farmer and enlisted on 29 May 1861, for the war, at age 21. Wounded at Malvern Hill, VA on 1 July 1862. Wounded and captured at Sharpsburg, MD on 17 Sept. 1862. Paroled at Shepherdstown, MC on 30 Sept 1862. Died at Wincester, VA on 10 Oct 1862 of wound. TYPE OF WOUND AND SPECIFIC INFECTION CAUSING HIS DEATH NOT SPECIFIED.

Also, there is a listing, just prior to Morrison T. OWENS, for Hamlet H. OWENS, Private, of the same regiment and company, who resided in Wilson County where he enlisted on 20 January 1861, for the war, at age 18. Died in July 1862 at Richmond, Virginia at age 19. Perhaps Morrison and Hamlet are brothers. NO CAUSE OF DEATH IS SPECIFIED FOR HAMLET H. OWENS.
