BORN in Ashe County where he was a farmer until he enlisted there on 17 May 1861, at age 32. DISCHARGED on 4 April 1862, by reason of disability. THE SPECIFIC DISABILITY THAT RESULTED IN HIS DISCHARGE IS NOT REPORTED.

James R. WOMBLE, Corporal. 15th North Carolina Infantry, Company K.

Born in Nash County and resided in Edgecombe County where he was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting on 24 April 1861 at age 19. WOUNDED in right hand at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 Dec 1862. WOUNDED at Bristoe Station, VA on 14 Oct 1863. Promoted to Corporal in Mar – April 1864. Present or accounted for until hospitalized at Charlottesville, VA on 9 May 1864, with a gunshot wound of the right leg, place and date wounded not reported. DIED in hospital at Charlottesville, VA on 17 June 1864, of wounds. SPECIFIC CAUSE OF DEATH NOT REPORTED.
